Adverse childhood trauma, Healing body and soul
Marlene Roeder
Before she became a journalist and author she scored a solid 5 on the ACE questionnaire. Born into the caricature of a dysfunctional family spanning 3 generations, she was isolated in an attic for the first 3 years of her life. No wonder she developed hospitalism even though she was home. Later, belittled, bullied and beaten, she tried to flee, in vain. She suffered from rickets, one otitis after the next, stomach cramps that made her spend hours across chairs to ease the pain, hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis and Sjoegren's syndrome, followed by insulin insensitivity and NAFLD. She became an avid reader, delving deep into her own childhood trauma. She tried many therapies of which role play and neurolinguistic programming proved most useful. She also tried prebiotics, postbiotics and many more diets than she cares to remember. Today her health concerns are on the mend without any medication due to her daily routine of healthy practices that she is happy to share with you.
